Family Love at Cocoa Beach by Su-Yen Smith

To say that I love the beach would be an understatement! So when this family flew me out to Florida just so that I could do a photo session at the beach, I was absolutely ecstatic!

When we got to Cocoa Beach, the family  was a little discouraged because the hurricane that hit in September had left its mark. Seaweed was everywhere—not to mention that there were 20 mph winds! But that didn't concern me one bit! I saw all the beauty that  surrounded us and reassured them that this was going to be perfect.

I told them to explore and have fun, and if I needed them to look at the camera, I would tell them. What ended up happening was they couldn't hear me because of the deafening winds. It was hilarious!

The result, though, were these beautiful touching moments that I was able to capture. Their son Reece loved picking up all the "treasure" that he found along the way and trying to escape my camera by running as fast as he could in the opposite direction. Mom and Dad shared little moments of cuddles and kisses in between.

I absolutely adored watching them play together and share so much love between them.

A Strong and Positive Spirit by Su-Yen Smith

When Houston first communicated with me about having a session I had such a positive feeling about him, even though it was only through messages.  When we met at his session, the first thing he did was give me a big hug, as if he'd known me for years.  Shevia, his beautiful service dog, has been Houston's rock for the past year and it was important to Houston to share this experience with her.  He wanted to capture his life, as it is now, to remember how far he's come.  By the end of our session, I knew that Houston was a great inspiration for anyone going through tough times.  I feel privileged to have taken this veteran's pictures so that it can help tell his story.

a Celebration Fit for a princess by Su-Yen Smith

Celebrating your quincenera is such a special time for a young lady.  I personally never had one nor did I attend many growing up.  So being there to capture Brisa's special day was definitely a great experience!  First off, that dress!  She was a true princess wearing that dress all day like it was nothing.  The court was fun, energetic, and always made sure that the Quincenera had what she needed.  Her party was so much fun and I truly enjoyed seeing her family and friends having a blast together.  I would have to say though, that my favorite part was seeing Brisa having a wonderful time, and the joy that it gave her mother, Elvira, to see it.   Happy Birthday Brisa!!!
